Todd Womack Bio

Long story medium short…

I’ve been writing and directing comedy projects of many shapes and sizes for over a decade, but I started my career as a rookie comedian in Austin right after graduating as a copywriter from UT’s Creative Advertising program. My first job after that was driving the Wienermobile around the country, then I traveled up the “left side” of South America and moved to New York City. There I spent 10 years writing and performing comedy professionally before directing my own projects. I was doing sketch comedy all over NYC, I completed the UCB program before it was the official training in comedy, and became a successful touring stand-up comedian. I even appeared in a few tv shows and commercials.

Then I got a chance to start making comedy video content for a global audience for a comedy outlet called Barely Political, which was owned by Google/YouTube. Soon I was a full time producer at Google, getting paid to make really popular content for a global audience at world-class facilities. Within a few years I helped write, produce, and direct over 3 billion views of viral comedy videos with some talented people. We made some famous stuff, some infamous stuff, and lots of other stuff.

Eventually I wanted to leave the wonderful insanity of New York, so I came back to Austin to start a family and try to become a normal person. For five years I worked as a writer then producer for Warner Media at Rooster Teeth, producing broadcast studio content, managing groups of content creators and even an internal creative agency, and of course doing a bit of live performing and doing VO for animated shows.

Then I had a real fun long boring time during the pandemic and got to do some thinking about what I really want to spend my work time doing, so I went back to writing and directing. Now I happily work at the intersection of branding, advertising, and comedy. I write, direct, (and often produce) comedy-based commercials and social media content for brands. Still working on the normal person part.
